Description:
This 90-minute panel session at the 2012 Co-operating to Build a Better Nova Scotia Conference in Halifax focused on education for co-operation. The
impetus for this focus came from the sector and from students who
reported that it was difficult to find secondary and post-secondary courses and
programmes that teach about co-operation, co-operatives, and collective
entrepreneurship. After hearing presentations providing an overview of
the (limited) education opportunities available, session participants
had the opportunity to identify challenges and opportunities for building
on the base that exists. In addition, the session heard about initiatives
being pursued by the co-operative sector in Ontario and by other groups
in Nova Scotia and elsewhere. Ideas and recommendations from this
workshop were brought forward to inform further discussions at the
Saturday visioning session. Unfortunately, there was no audio recording made of this session - however other presentations at the conference can be listened to at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZqDtnZn1-dHyTNS_nX0CR0fpJQokIZQD
